The device

DecentAI is a small always-on computer for a household. You plug it in, it boots to a single home screen, and every service on that screen runs inside the box: no cloud account, no subscription, no phone-home.

It is fully usable with no membership account at all. Prometheus, the local AI, and the personal services that keep your own data are the things that ask you to sign in, on your device, with your own login.

What is in the box

What it does

A local AI that stays local

Prometheus is the assistant that lives on the device. It runs local models chosen for the hardware in your unit, so it is pre-configured out of the box: no API keys, no setup screens, no account with anybody.

  • Curated per-device models, selected for the hardware you own
  • The model is warmed during the quiet boot, so the first question is not the slow one
  • The harness picks the model; you are never forced to choose
  • Every core capability runs on the device with no subscription

A whole fleet of services, already installed

Local models are the easy part to copy. The point of DecentAI is the bundle around them: the services a household actually uses, running on the same box, behind the same private front door.

Every service on the home screen is fronted by the device's own encrypted web layer, has its own status monitor, and reports its health truthfully. There are no open signups: the first owner sets the device up, then invites the household.

You are buying ownership, not a subscription

Everything core runs on the device forever, with no subscription and no phone-home. Advanced capabilities ship switched off, because owning the device means deciding what it may do, and privacy is the default, not a setting you have to find.

  • Update checks happen when you ask for them, not when we want
  • Package signing is mandatory; bundled service updates wait for security review
  • Every claim on this page describes something demonstrated working on real hardware

Honest copy is part of the product: what the device does, what it does not do, and what is logged (nothing) are all stated plainly.
